"Teachers open the door, but you must enter by yourself." ~ Chinese Proverb
A proverb is a wise saying that reveals a truth about human experience. People around the world have used proverbs to help them think about life and the world.
What is your favorite proverb? What does this proverb mean to you? Give an example of how this proverb might apply to people's lives today.
Here’s an example for you:
One of my favorite proverbs is “People who fight fire with fire usually end up with ashes.” This quote is credited to Abigail Van Buren. To me, this proverb means that if someone is doing something wrong, I shouldn’t do the same thing to that person. That usually just makes the situation worse. Instead, I should look for a way to solve the problem. I think if people tried to communicate more, they would have fewer problems. If someone is being rude, it won’t help the situation to be rude back. Instead, a person could try to find out why the person is being rude by asking if he or she has done something to upset the person. I apply this proverb in my own life by trying to always be the “bigger person” if someone does something wrong to me. Getting mad and getting even both end up making my life worse, so I just try to let go of negative energies and to move forward with my life.

¨I can make jokes all day. But i dont wanna be one.¨ I like this proverb because It kind of explains how i am . I can joke around alot but in this world i dont wanna be treated like one or look like one. It was said by Marilyn Monroe , which is my role model because people think they know her because of all her sex appeal but deep inside shes not a bad person and just a celebrity that sleeps around with everyone .

ReplyDelete"A smile cost less than electricity but lights more"; this is a Scottish prover, I like it because I feel identified with it, I like to smile, because it make feel good the people and me, and this doesn't cost nothing, there is another proverb related to it that says "for wrinkle the forehead you need forty muscles and to smile only fifteen" so that means the to be angry you have to strive more than to be happy.
ReplyDeleteI like to be the example, because everyone can make happy all the people, and if they do nobody is going to be sad for a long time, because the predominant emotions replace the little ones.

ReplyDelete“You never know what you can do until you try.” I like this proverb because it fits a lot of people in this world. I think if you try your hardest then you will do your best. The proverb explains that if you don’t try at something then who knows if you’re missing out. You should always try and see how it turns out. This proverb fits me because most of the time i am too scared to try something new but when i do i am glad that i did. Always do something that you are too afraid to do.
ReplyDelete“Actions speak louder than words.” I don’t much about proverbs but I’d have to say this is my favorite. It explains different things in the world, and things about people. What I mean by this is when there is something being talked about around the world no one is truly gonna believe something by just words, they wanna see actions. The same goes for us people; we can’t say “after I graduate, I’ll go to college, and get my bachelor’s degree,” but yet take a break after high school without someone saying or thinking negatively. A good majority of people would wanna see it before they believe it.

ReplyDeleteEthiopian Proverb
I really like this proverb, because it makes me think twice about someone and who they really are. It means that some people could pretend to be your friend but is really a fake. Sometimes I here people say there's no such thing as friends, only people that accompany you at the time. For example they can see you be successful in life, probably more than they are and it irritates them where they want to make you become unsuccessful. If someone sees what you wear or what car you drive, or anything that you have that they want, there gonna wanna do it twice as better as you, and that's what you call a hater.

ReplyDelete“Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those matter”
ReplyDeleteThe reason why i like this proverb is because its telling you to be who you are and don't let anyone tell you the difference and the people that don't like that don't matter don't listen to them. and people that don`t mind they don't matter for there self.
¨it's not about how hard you hit its about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward¨ The reason i like this proverb is because it reminds me to never give up on what i want even if you failed once at it you have to keep trying no matter what happens like if someone was trying to learn and be good at playing every instrument in the world and someone tells them there bad at playing one instrument the you have to just practice more at it till you achieve what you wanted at the end of the journey with it
ReplyDelete"the work praises the man" This proverb to me means that you have to put the work in for the reward. In real life you have to work to get what you want if you want this big house and the fancy cars you have to work for it did you think that life is just gonna give you the money you want. This proverb could apply in peoples life by showing people that if you want something you have to work for it and you have to stick to it and strive for excellence but hard work will out weight the peoples voices who don't put the work in.
ReplyDeleteone of my favorite quotes is “god didnt make you perfect just so you can be like everyone else”. i like this quote because it tells people that you don’t have to change the way you are to be like someone else.like if someone comes from a different place and they have a different accent or the way they dress is different they do not need to change because the people here do not dress or talk the way you talk.
